I had a confirmed booking at The Plough, Alnwick (ID: 648163191) through Agoda, but upon arrival, I found the premises locked, the building deserted, and no staff present. Despite there being no specified check-in cutoff time on my booking, the hotel failed to provide any entry instructions and ignored every call I made that night. With no other local accommodation available at that hour, I was forced to sleep in my car. The hotel’s conduct afterward was even more shameful: they only answered the phone once weeks later to state that a "manager" would need to approve a refund, before going completely silent and ignoring both my inquiries and Agoda’s for over a month. It is dangerous and utterly unprofessional to accept a guest's payment only to leave them stranded at a locked door in the middle of the night. Do not trust this business with your money or your safety; they are completely unreliable and lack any sense of basic accountability.

Has a short stay here for a few days away and couldn’t fault it. The room was lovely and clean, comfy bed and it’s in a fantastic central location. Amazing bar staff especially Bex who was incredible! I mainly ate at other spots while there but the meal I did have there (the beef burger) was delicious and the service great. Will definitely be back.

Me and my partner booked Sunday lunch during peak time (2pm) as we were visiting Alnwick for the day. First impression of the bar was it was modern, with traditional touches. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We were shown to our table and we ordered our food at the bar. We waited about 20mins I think, which was absolutely fine for this time of day on a rainy Sunday. Food arrived and we got stuck in. I had the herb crusted beef with the usual trimmings and my partner had the lamb shoulder. Her facial expression after her mouthful of Lamb told me everything I needed to know 😁. I felt the same way about the beef! Vegetables were chunky and delicious and the gravy was sooo good, I just wish I had some sourdough bread to mop it up with. All in all a fabulous lunch and we left pleasantly stuffed. I felt I needed to pass on my thanks to the Chefs, which I did via the staff member who greeted us on arrival. If you are ever in Alnwick and need lunch in a lovely bar, with friendly staff and delicious food, the I suggest The Plough. They are also a dog friendly pub 👍.

It was our first time and we loved it 😍
The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, and the staff were so friendly 💛
We came just before the kitchen was closing (literally 3 minutes!) and they still welcomed us and let us order – such a nice experience 🙌
Definitely adding this place to our favourites ✨
